1) Make sure the wattage of the bulb doesn't exceed the wattage of the lamp it is screwed into.
2) Make sure the bulb is making a good connection inside the socket. To do this: Unplug the lamp and remove the bulb from the socket. Look inside the socket for a metal tab and make sure it is not pressed up against the socket. It must stick down a little to make contact with the base of the blub. If there is a gap between this metal tab and the base of the bulb, the bulb will work but cause arcing which shortens the life of the bulb.
To bring this metal tab down (if pushed up too far) use a small object like a small screwdriver to pull the tab out slightly so it will make contact with the base of the bulb once screwed in. AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOUR LAMP IS UNPLUGGED PRIOR TO INSERTING ANYTHING INSIDE THE LAMP. Then try the bulb again.
3) Make sure bulb is not over tightened
4) If bulb is used over a humid environment, it can shorten the life
5) The bulb should not be touched excessively with hands. Oils from your hands can decrease the life of the bulb
6) Do not move the bulb excessively. The filament can be damaged if the bulb is moved a lot (For example, if a clamp lamp with bulb is sitting on top of a screen tank and you take it off to feed your animal daily, care must be taken to be as gentle as possible).
7) If you have gone through all these and still have no luck, it Could be a faulty bulb - if it still falls within the return window of where you originally purchased it, you will need to return it from the original place of purchase. If they do not work with you or you are outside the replacement window, please contact our customer support team with as much information. team@flukerfarms.com
